Contest Grading, Budokwai, 30th April 2006

Just the three of us again attending the grading - this time myself in search for more Dan grade points, Tony Dixon as a 7th Kyu and finally (but not least!) Michael Haylett as a 9th Kyu.

Can let actions speak louder than words with this one, here are the videos from the day...

Michael Haylett
Michael won both of his fights, and walked away with his 7th Kyu - and very deservedly too!

Tony Dixon
Tony won one fight, and lost two, and unlucky to do so after taking one of his opponents almost to time before being beat. Tony took the grade he was after, and can now where that green belt as a 6th Kyu.

Sensei Adam
I did not have a great day, much like High Wycombe of last month. After re-dislocating my shoulder at squad training, I was already a little away from top condition. My first fight was against the only other 2nd Dan there, and lead the way for the day's results, with current grades summing up where the wins and losses would be going. Cancelling one another out, this couldn't have been a very pretty bout and ended with a Hike-Wake.
My second fight was against a 1st Dan, and as said before, the grades summed up where the points were going. Sadly, these were my only points of the day.

My third fight was against Simon Childs, at 4th Dan currently. This meant that I would get 20 points (I believe) if I won. But no. After putting up with me for about 30 seconds, he decided to throw me with Uchi Mata. I did manage to pull of a Tomoe Nage as I landed, but Ippon already called.

Fourth and final fight of the day, against a 3rd Dan. Again, nothing here to write home about as I was quickly out-strengthed and disposed of, without too much bother.
So Another 7 points to my tally. Broken that 50 mark now on 51, but I am making rather slow work of it!

And so, that was the end of all the fun for the day. Or at least we thought...

On the way home, Sensei's car (named 'Skip'), died. Currently residing on a roundabout in Beckton waiting for final burial. Oh! How we laughed! Thanks muchly to John Fahy who was our knight in shining armour, and thanks to Skip for all the good times. Poxy thing!
