Due to the recent review and subsequent upheaval of the Kyu syllabus, this section will be steadily growing over the next few months. To start with this will keep to the lists of techniques, eventually there will be videos and descriptions to all techniques (starting from the lowest grade first) to give our members every opportunity with the gradings.
Tachiwaza: Ura-nage, Uki-otoshi, Yoko-tomoe-nage, Kata-hiza-te-ouchi-gake-ashi-dori, Soto-maki-komi, Ushiro-goshi, Sumi-gaeshi, Ryo-hiza-seoi-otoshi, Yoko-gake, Sode-tsuri-komi-goshi, Te-guruma, Ko-uchi-gake-mata-maki-komi. Shimewaza: Katahajime, Hadaka-jime, Kata-te-ashi-koshi-jime, Sangaku-jime. PERFORMANCE SKILLS Tachiwaza: Knowledge of performance forms of selected techniques, demonstrate any two variations of Sumi-gaeshi. Newaza: Kata-ha-jime Uke "all fours" position, Hadaka-jime (Uke prone position), Sangaku-gatame (complex entry), Sangaku-jime (complex entry), Sangaku-osae-gatame (turnover and hold). Randori: Demonstration attacking and defending in Randori for approximately 3 minutes, showing knowledge of Kumikata, Renzoku-waza, Renraku-waza and Kaeshi-waza with a cooperative partner. PERSONAL CHOICE Select and demonstrate four techniques from the BJA Technical Grading Syllabus and demonstrate them individually and then as a series combinations and counters - include attacking opportunity, best grip and appropriate movement. Demonstrations must include two combinations, two counters and two transitions into newaza. Kata: Demonstrate any three sets of the Nage-no-kata or the complete Katame-no-kata or the complete Go-nosen-no-kata. TERMINOLOGY AND SUPPLEMENTARY KNOWLEDGE Know the common English translations and meaning of all Japanese terminology used in this section. |
