Gyaku Ude Garami

Gyaku-ude-garami - Reverse Arm Entanglement

Gyaku-ude-garami

Gyaku-ude-garami is the reverse ude-garami, but the aim is still the same - that being the dislocation of the forearm from the elbow joint. Tori's hand that is on the uke's wrist twists the arm forward whilst the other arm is lifted by tori's other arm.

The connection of this hold is much tighter than that of ude-garami. The hold was mad famous by Mashahiko Kimura, and is know as 'the kimura' in some other martial art forms such as MMA, cage-fighting etc.
