Akitas Judo Clubs - Technique List

Welcome to the index of the Akitas Judo Club Techniques. In this we hope to eventually provide a comprehensive of all Judo techniques, with descriptions and videos.

This will, of course, take a while for me to compile - so please bare with us! I will be concentrating initially on the techniques needed for each syllabus first, then moving onto the Kokusai Shiai Waza (which will be listed seperately if it is confusing as to whether they are ashi, te or koshi-waza due to being combined), and then the more uncommon techniques.

Most techniques can be performed in many different ways. Many techniques have many different names, and interpretations. I intend to include all of these eventually - again, this will take a very long time! If you have particular comment on a technique, please email me at sensei@akitasjudo.com and let me know. Main sources are listed here. Currently descriptions are all mine, with help from the sources listed.

Sources

Obviously, as with anyone in Judo, there has been many, many sources that have helped progress this section of the site. However, I feel it is important that the following recognition is given to those who have been of major assistance and without whose help this would not have been possible:

Kodokan Judo by Jigoro Kano
The A-Z of Judo
by Syd Hoare
British Judo Association Technical Grading Syllabus - A Photographic Guide - Roy Inman, Bob Willingham and the BJA
The Pyjama Game - Mark Law

http://www.kodokan.org/
http://judoinfo.com/
FreeBudo.com

And the Sensei's that have been there throughout, namely:
Shacho Peter Hutchins
Dave Bevan
Steve Blowers
And all other Judoka that have 'been there' - young and old, novice and wise - all have contributed the Akitas and my own Judo in their own special way.

Finally, the excellent ukes and toris that made the videos possible (in grade order):
Andrew James
Mike Chapman
Andreas Killi
Rebecca Haylett
Richard Quinney
Ben James
Danny Malone
Oliver Martin
Mike Lehane
Roy Norman
Mark
