Nage-no-Kata

The nage-no-kata (form of throws) is probably the most familiar and widely practiced of all judo katas. Created by Jigaro Kano, this kata contains 15 throwing techniques - demonstrated to the right and then to the left. These techniques are then split into five sets or categories - te-waza (hand techniques), koshi-waza (hip techniques), ashi-waza (leg techniques), mae-sutemi-waza (forward sacrificial techniques) and yoko-sutemi-waza (side sacrificial techniques).
