Kata Saturdays!

Akitas Rayleigh Judo Club will now play host to a dedicated session of kata every Saturday, 12-1pm. These hour long sessions will be priced at only £2.

We endeavour to prepare our students for any kata requirements for promotions, but also to introduce students to judo fundamentals offered through the various kata, without the usual reticence of contest players by looking at kata in a less formal way initially - building up to perfecting the display of the kata towards the end.

Katame-no-Kata will be tackled first, eventually it is hoped that this can be part of the warm-up each week to perfect for gradings. We will then be looking at Nage-waza-ura-no-kata (from the first session) before looking at Nage-no-kata. By the time we get to this stage we hope to start introducing the Seiroku-Zen'yo-Kokumin-Taiiku in various stages during the warm-up. We will be looking at all the kata's shown on our kata page eventually.

Akitas are extremely excited about this development; we hope to introduce kata to as many Judoka as possible. Akitas Judo Clubs will not have students walking across the mat for hours upon end, instead we will be learning the fundamentals of each kata.
