Sangaku-jime - Triangle Strangle

Sangaku-jime

Sangaku-jime - the triangle strangle. The triangle refers to the leg shape as shown in the picture above. Equally, and perhaps more commonly, this strangle is applied with tori on their back and uke attacking from in between tori's legs.

It is important that tori does not stretch their legs out straight, as this would then become an illegal technique. Instead, one leg bends at the knee with the ankle/foot from the other leg behind.
