Ude-garami - Arm Entanglement

Ude-garami

Ude-garami the arm entanglement. Often, this technique is applied with only half of the power that it has. Tori's arm should take hold of uke's wrist and start to twist so that the two forearm bones threaten to pop out against each other. Tori's other arm wraps round the arm and makes an action like revving a motorcycles throttle, this bends the forearm in the wrong direction.

If the arm is facing the other way, it is known as gyaku-ude-garami. Other names include Mune-garami (Chest entanglement - demonstrating the hold down element), Hantai-ude-kujiki (against a straight arm).
